JOY OF PROGRAMMING - a cookbook

Cook Book Because we can't know your local driving conditions, we engineer V1 to detect and locate every possible signal at any frequency on the radar bands.   While this assures protection under all driving circumstances, it also opens the possibility of false alarms from non-radar signals peculiar to your locality.

To adapt V1 to your local conditions, V1connection,the app, on the Profiles screen, provides tools for you to set up automatic muting of signals you know to be false alarms.   Because the sources of false alarms varies from town to town, you may choose to create unique settings for each town or neighborhood, name them accordingly, and save them as a Profile that you can call up at any time.

To get you started with the tools, think of this section as a cookbook with recipes for muting set-ups that you may find useful.   Once you're familiar with the tools, you'll find it's easy to create your own recipes.   But just remember that automatically muting a signal carries a risk--the alarm you preemptively silence might not be false.

Recipes

On the Picture screen, with factory default settings, the Box on each radar band defines the Zone of Certified Radar Activity.  Any radar outside these Boxes is out of compliance with Federal Communications Commission regulations and is probably a false alarm.

V1connection, the app, allows automatic muting of out-of-the-Box alerts.

  • Tap the gear symbol at the top left of the screen. (fig.A)
  • Tap "Create New Profile." (fig.B)
  • Key in name of your new profile. (fig.C)
  • Select "In-the-Box-Options" by tapping green arrow at right. (fig.D)
  • From the drop-down menu, select "Custom Ka Box Settings." (fig.E)
  • From the drop-down menu, select both "Out-of-the-Box Muting" and "In-the-Box Unmuting." (fig.F)
  • Tap "Apply."  Now you've muted all of Ka band except the frequency range inside the box.
  • Select "Custom K Box." (fig.G)
  • From the drop-down menu, select both "Out-of-the-Box Muting" and "In-the-Box Unmuting. (fig.H)
  • Tap "Apply."  Now you've muted all of K band except the frequency range inside the box.
  • Select "Custom X Box." (fig.I)
  • From the drop-down menu, select both "Out-of-the-Box Muting" and "In-the-Box Unmuting." (fig.J)
  • Tap "Apply."  Now you've muted all of X band except the frequency range inside the box.
  • Tap floppy-disk symbol at top-right of screen to save the profile. (fig.C)
  • Volume of the muted signals will be regulated by the Volume-control Lever; the unmuted signals within the Boxes will be regulated by the Control Knob.

Why make this change: The user may know that, for his driving area, no enforcement radars operate in the upper 0.050 GHz of the factory-default Box.  By adjusting the Box limits to narrow coverage to 24.050-24.200 GHz, any alerts outside the custom Box can be muted automatically.

  • Tap the gear symbol at the top left of the screen. (fig.A)
  • Tap "Create New Profile." (fig.B)
  • Key in name of your new profile. (fig.C)
  • Select "In-the-Box-Options" by tapping green arrow at right. (fig.D)
  • From the drop-down menu, select "Custom K Box." (fig.E)
  • Tap in "Right Bound" box and edit frequency from 24.250 to 24.200. (fig.F)
Note: if you wish to automatically mute K-band alerts alerts outside this custom Box, select both "Out-of-the-Box Muting" and "In-the-Box Unmuting." (fig.G)
  • Tap "Apply."
  • Tap floppy-disk symbol at top-right of screen to save the profile. (fig.C)
  • Note that Box on K is green to indicate a custom frequency. (fig.H)

Programming Tools

Enables V1 warnings to come through when you're running other apps: On/Off -- default is Off.

Check this box, save your profile and return to any V1connection, the app screen.   Now when you exit the app, you will see a message indicating notifications have been enabled.   Any alert will now be shown in the notification area.

USA Mode: Allows you to switch Off X, K, Ka bands, and Laser reception--default is On; allows you to switch On Ku band--default is Off.

Euro Mode: Allows you to switch Off Laser reception--default is On; allows you to switch On Euro X, and Ku band--default is Off.

Allows you to switch off Ka Guard--default is On.

Ka Guard is a software function that resists many common false alarms on Ka band caused by cheap radar detectors.   The time required to analyze and reject those Ka false alarms slows the speed of radar detection.   Disabling Ka Guard enables fast detection but with a HUGE INCREASE IN FALSE ALARMS.

JoP_Android_prog_FALSE_expand USA Mode: False Alarms

Includes controls for the following functions:

  • Volume of muted warning: control with Volume Lever or set to zero volume--default is control by Lever.
  • Volume of bogey-lock tone after Mute is pushed: control with Volume Lever or Volume Knob--default is Knob.

Allows activation of the FIRST THREE automatic muting functions (below) on K band--default is Off.

The functions are:

  • Time-based muting: Mute alerts X seconds after signal is detected: default; X=10 seconds.   When you choose ON, you can select a time from a table.
  • Strength-based muting on initial detection: Disable muting on alerts stronger than three dots at initial detection--default is On.
  • Strength-based muting of ongoing alerts: Unmutes when signal strength exceeds five dots: On/Off--default is On.
  • Mute K-band signals from rear:
    - On V1s before 1179 (last four digits of serial number),
K Band Muting must be switched On (above) for this switch
      to operate: On/Off--default is Off.
    - On V1s starting with 1179 (last four digits of serial number),
this switch operates independently of the K Band Muting switch:
      On/Off--default is Off.
